My old account is unable to be claimed as a Brand Account - Why can't I claim or access it?
1
I followed the short tutorial on how to claim your old account as a Brand Account, and was met with the error message "This YouTube account isn't available to be claimed." What can I do? I know I have some videos on there of pets that have since passed on, and I'd like to be able to access them(they're set to private).
It's possible that I already claimed it back when YouTube made the full switch to google, and I just don't remember doing so, but shouldn't it show as my own Brand Account, if that were the case? My current account claims I don't have any Brand Accounts.
Please help.
The account I'm trying to claim is quite old, in all fairness, but that shouldn't make a difference as it's still able to be viewed(BrokenHeartedAngel11)

That message tells you that you have already claimed it (and that is why you cannot claim it again/a second time). If www.youtube.com/user/BrokenHeartedAngel11 is your YouTube channel- you uploaded to it as recently as 2012 and that was a year after it became mandatory to have a Google Account involved (11th of January 2011 was the day they required this).
You will need to treat this as a Google Account recovery, as you already have a Google Account involved. So use https://support.google.com/accounts/troubleshooter/2402620 as best you can. Hopefully you've set up recovery options (mobile phone number or email address) for such an eventuality.
If not:
- Tip for forgotten email username: if notifications are not disabled (they are on by default) then try commenting on one of the video uploads or subscribing to the YouTube channel, and then checking all possible email addresses for notification of this new activity because that may (and it will be if mail is not being forwarded from the actual one) well be the email address you are looking for.
- Tip for forgotten password: check any device's browser where you may previously have saved sign in details as browser's preferences are a good source of even just inadvertently saved passwords. Otherwise- you really will need to remember it.
